Granulate level measurement

Ultrasonic sensors are particularly suitable for level measurement of granular materials. This can for example be plastic pellets, wood chips, seeds, food flakes or gravel. Their surfaces are very fissured and reflect the measuring beam of the sensor in all directions, so that not enough signal returns to the sensor. Ultrasonic sensors have a relatively wide detection cone, so even with inclined surfaces and fissured surfaces enough sound is reflected back to reach a reliable distance or level measurements.
